History & Heritage
e-LINE prides itself on being at the forefront of cutting edge orthodontic innovation. By combining the very latest in 3D computer technology with the experience of our highly trained team, we are able to provide a service that exceeds expectations.
Situated in the heart of the medical district, e-LINE has gained a reputation as a family friendly centre of excellence, both nationally and internationally. Dr Stephen Hopson and Dr Kaval Patel are well recognised in the industry for their rigorous attention to detail and consistently world-class results. Both orthodontists work together as a team to oversee a high level of treatment for all patients. Each patient is allocated an individual orthodontic therapist to guide them through the treatment process.
e-LINE Orthodontics is one of the longest established private clinics in London with a heritage spanning over 50 years. The practice was started at premises in Portland Place, not far from the current practice, in the 1960s by Granger McCallin and Maurice Berman – two highly respected orthodontists of their time. This was the first orthodontic partnership in the UK to be based on fixed appliance treatment. When Dr McCallin retired, Malcolm Munday joined the practice in the 1970s followed by John Bennett who joined as a third partner in the late 1970s. It was Dr Bennett who, along with two other orthodontists, developed “MBT” (McLaughlin Bennett Trevisi) which was recently acknowledged as the most widely used fixed treatment method in the world. So, as you can see, we do have a bit of a pedigree!
Dr Stephen Hopson, who had joined the partnership in the early 1990s, brought the practice to Devonshire Street in 2006 and rebranded it as e-LINE Orthodontics – a new start for the 21st Century and a new partner, Dr Kaval Patel who joined the practice in 2010.
