Topics Menu

You can find below the list of topics to be covered during your training, so that you can learn what you would like to focus on.

    • We believe a thorough diagnosis and the proper case selection is paramount to excellent orthodontic treatment.

By doing so, you will not only provide your patients with good, sound and ethically planned treatments, but you will also protect yourself from any legal issues.

    • From the patient’s main concern to the initial clinical examination, to photographic and radiographic records (2D and 3D, MRI), bite registration and digital/analog study models and set-up, we will go through the process in detail.

    • In today’s market, it is essential to be efficient and predictable, but sometimes, we rush into treatments without having a complete and comprehensive assessment for each of our patients.

Once all the patient data and diagnostic records have been completed and assessed thoroughly, the case selection process should start.

    • Depending on our expertise, we should know what’s safe and predictable for us to accomplish with the orthodontic tools available on the market today. What is realistic and what is gong to work?

    • Planning your orthodontic treatment is both an art and a science.

On one hand it’s very good records and on the other hand is dental education, scientific evidence and experience. The clinical experience and the ‘‘feel’’ are difficult to teach, but strong and sound treatment principles and targeted outcomes are always a must for us.

    • We will go over numerous cases of your choice and discuss all aspects from start to finish.

    • How to classify and treat different orthodontic malocclusions?

    • Is the classic Angle classification (Class I, II, III) still relevant? Which type of malocclusion should be treated by the general dentist and which should be referred to the specialist orthodontist?

    • We will speak about multiple cases of all types of malocclusions, focusing on what you would like to learn.

    • We will discuss what our idea is for treating malocclusions early.

    • We will show you a range cases involving transverse problems solved with appliances from expanders to functional , both fixed and removable.

    • Timing is a key component that we will focus on.

    • We will discuss our strategy, appliance choices and what is best when.

    • We will show you how to deal with a multidisciplinary approach, to get optimal and realistic long-term results.

    • We work with aligners. They are here to stay and we need to be able to offer cutting edge, comfortable and sometimes invisible treatments to our patients. Be it in-house, locally made or provided by one of the big companies, the clear aligners promise the us the sky is the limit.

    • In real life, we should be able to select our clinical cases according to our clearly defined treatment goals and to be able to control the digital treatment plans provided by the aligner companies.

    • What you see on the screen will most likely not happen in real life. You will learn the limits and limitations and see real cases and simulations.

    • It all starts with your initial diagnosis, treatment plan and treatment goals. Then it is the actual bracket prescription selection and design.

    • Once this riddle gets solved, you need to focus on the actual bracket placement. Nowadays, this can be done by digital set-up and a transfer tray or classically, by hand. What works best for you? Let’s talk about positions / torque, etc.

    • Finishing in orthodontics is such an abstract thing. Let us show you how to make those bends.

    • From scanning , to printing models.

    • From appliance design to sintering and laser welding.

    • What software solutions are good, how do you use them and what is needed to get into digital orthodontics. Let us show you.

    • Wire selection and sequencing hold the key to efficiency.

    • Holding a large inventory can also make clinical practice confusing. We will break down what you actually need and when.

    • Let’s talk facial change, skeletal discrepancy and how to get optimal results. We will discuss cases and go through the planning sequencing and finishing of these complex cases.

    • We will also discuss our thoughts on communication in these cases.

    • Let’s talk impacted teeth. We will discuss a variety of cases with impacted canines, premolars, incisors and molars.

    • Let’s discuss the TMJ and its relationship to treatment planning. What do we do if there is Co-Cr slide.

    • How do we make splints , how do we adjust splints and when do we use them?

    • What is three piece splint?

    • Stability is the key to success. Let’s talk retention protocols.

    • We will discuss wisdom teeth and what should be done and when.

    • We will show you how to make fixed retainers and how to bond them.

    • We will talk about miniscrews and how to place them.

    • We will discuss miniplates and show you palatal miniscrew and guided insertion.

    • Let’s discuss this important topic of missing teeth. We will look at cases, how do we plan these cases?

    • We will show you the sequencing, temporary measures and what the orthodontist is expected to achieve for our restorative colleagues.

    • We will discuss how you/your clinic should communicate with patients, colleagues and employees and how to present your brand to the world.
